Ochudo Cafe

Ochudo cafe is located in the lovely village Shirakawa-go If you ever have a chance to visit this village, make sure to check this cafe out.

This 350 years-old gassho house is semi-underground which offers a cozy and delightful atmosphere for about a dozen people. The cafe is run by a fifty-ish couple who keeps their eyes on the customer, very tentative to what they need.  We sat around a large irori hearth which has a cast iron nabe pot of Zenzai soup (sweet red bean dessert) slowly cooked over. The menu is surprisingly simple: Japanese curry, rice balls, toast, coffee, tea and juice. We ordered set meal of 1000Y including plain curry brown rice, a drink, Zenzai soup and extra toasted bread and coffee. Let me tell you, that is the best curry and toasted bread I have ever tried in a long time. Not too mention, since I order latte, I got to choose my own cup among hundreds of old vintage cups at the counter. we were offered postcards for free as souvenir when make payment.

It's been 4 years...

Remembering the story of Celine and Jesse in Before sunrise and Before sunset movie. That’s exactly the relationship I’m picturing to build up all the time. They’re like present just to shoot the breeze for hours with endless topics running wild spectrums from art, poetry, family, sex, God, Death, dream to even pressing environmental issues (I know, how crazy that is!) during their strolls around those fantastic European cities. Each of them is driven to bridge the space, and barely we saw the conversation got weirdly caught up. They are both terrific I must say. Thanks to Richard Linklater who set the scrappy, yet seductive, witty, intelligent temperature of this relationship just right.
In short, for me an intimate relationship is all about interesting dialogues, honestly that could be anything.. (the sky's the limit), but they need to be existed in some sorts of forms, otherwise, spending times together would be bored to death.

After 4 years, we have come to recognize that there cannot be relationships unless there is commitment, unless there is loyalty, unless there is love, patience, persistence. I sucks at that. I screw things up from time to time. Still, he taught me the lesson: Forgive the past. It is over. Learn from it and let go. People are constantly changing and growing. Do not cling to a limited, disconnected, negative image of a person in the past.Your relationship is always alive and changing.

Cheers and Thank you

P/s: today is no special day, just lounging around home, eating out and talking nonsense things as usual.

Truly Penang

Penang is known as the "Pearl of the Orient" - Georgetown is its capital and soul; no visit to Malaysia is complete without taking in the sites, smells, and wonders of this tantalizing city.
